Gerry Holiday, aka Gerardo Cazares, is a muralist with a passion for community engagement. He believes in the power of art to bring people together and inspire positive change, particularly among young artists. Gerry's unique style is a fusion of traditional Mexican folk art and contemporary street art. His murals are a colorful and dynamic reflection of his cultural heritage and personal experiences.
Gerry's art is deeply rooted in Chicago history, particularly the history of Back of the Yards and its Chicano community. His murals are a reflection of the struggles and triumphs of this community, conveying messages of empowerment, unity, and social justice. He is particularly interested in Chicano muralism and its role in promoting cultural identity and social change.
As a mentor and educator, Gerry is committed to showing young artists their full potential. He frequently collaborates with local schools and community organizations to provide workshops and hands-on training in muralism and street art. His goal is to create a new generation of artists who are socially conscious and engaged in their communities.
